Ada is the county seat of Pontotoc County. The town is named after Ada Reed, the daughter of Jeff Reed, an original settler. In 1909, East Central College, a normal school for training teachers, was established in Ada. It is now East Central University, part of Oklahoma’s Regional University System.

He was part of the defensive line that was dubbed “The New York Sack Exchange” and was known for the “sack dance” he did after taking the quarterback. At the time of his retirement, he was the NFL’s all-time leader in sacks, with 107.5 over the course of his career.
Bill Anoatubby, the Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, the third-largest federally recognized Indigenous nation in the United States. Since his tenure started, in 1987, Anoatubby has expanded educational opportunities for Nation members and established the Nation’s own healthcare system.
